Dear Friend,

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Month, the #BetterTogetherCA network and team spent the month of May celebrating teachers and all you do to prepare students to be the leaders of tomorrow. We appreciate you all year, but in May we take time to say: Thank you, teachers, for everything you do.

Our May Twitter Chat, hosted by Bay Area TOSA, Karly Moura, focused on “Appreciating and Elevating Teacher Voices.” Check out the recap of our chat with Karly and connect with this stellar group of teachers on Twitter to join the conversation.

With the third annual California Teachers Summit just two months away, we are thinking about how to continue to build our community, both online and in-person. Join us for our next #BetterTogetherCA Twitter Chat on June 12th at 7 PM PST to explore “Building Our Community – Online and #IRL (In Real Life).” The conversation will be co-moderated by Simi Valley Unified School District TOSA Cori Orlando and San Marino High School social studies teacher (and Better Together Teacher Advisory Committee Member) Peter Paccone!

This chat will focus on how to harness the power of networks to advance teachers’ professional learning. We invite you to learn about how you can use social media to grow or join a Professional Learning Network and share stories of the power of connecting with colleagues in real life.

To help build your professional learning network #IRL, we have two upcoming opportunities for you to join. First, be sure to register for the Better Together: California Teachers Summit on July 28. We want to make this the best Summit yet, so help us spread the word to your colleagues! Click here to download our save the date flyer and share it with your network. Check out our conversation with Margaret Coughlan, who attended last year’s Summit, on what she took away and what she has to say to teachers interested in participating.

Second, consider joining a dynamic group of teachers in free Teacher Led Professional Learning (TLPL) institutes offered by Teach Plus in collaboration with Better Together. Space is limited so register now here to attend the institutes at CSU Fullerton June 26-27 and CSU Dominguez Hills June 28-29.

Stay tuned for more exciting news about the Summit and events throughout the year!

Best regards,

Emily Davis
