Who is eligible to attend?

All PreK-12 California teachers, teacher candidates, school administrators, and other educators are invited to participate.

Can I bring my colleagues?

Yes! All California educators are welcome to register free of charge here. Spread the word to any who might be interested!

Where is the event taking place?

The convening will take place concurrently at nearly 40 locations across the state, including college and university campuses across the state. Find the host site nearest to you on the registration page of cateacherssummit.com.

How do I know which location to go to?

Attendees may choose to attend the Summit at whichever location is most convenient.

How much does registration cost?

The event is free to all California PreK-12 teachers, teacher candidates, school administrators, and other educators.

Who is sponsoring the event?

The Summit is a partnership of the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU), California State University (CSU), and New Teacher Center.

What is the format for the Summit?

The program will feature keynote addresses by education leaders, TED-style EdTalks presented by local teachers, and Edcamp discussions led by teachers, for teachers. This format encourages peer-to-peer dialogue and provides ample time for networking and sharing ideas with fellow teachers in small group conversations.

Will the event be taped or live streamed for those who can’t make it?

Currently, there are no plans to tape or live stream the event. Teachers are encouraged to attend the event in-person to gain the most benefit from this unique day of learning, including building networks with colleagues in your region.

Can I receive a stipend or professional development credit for attending?

Yes! A 0.5 continuing education unit (CEU) will be made available to attendees for $27.50. Details on how to register for the CEU will be provided via email prior to the Summit as well as on site at each Summit location.

How will this year’s summit be different?

Building on momentum from last year, the second annual Better Together: California Teachers Summit will be even bigger and better, bringing together teachers at nearly 40 locations across the state to share ideas, join a teacher network, and access the latest resources for implementing the new California Standards in their classrooms. The summit will feature innovative strategies and best practices on timely topics such as the California Standards in English/Language Arts and Math and the Next Generation Science Standards.

If I attended last year’s summit, can I come again this year?

Yes! Previous attendees are encouraged to participate and spread the word to colleagues and friends! Join us again this year to learn the latest strategies and innovative tools for implementing the new California Standards in your classroom.

What topics will be covered at my location?

 Edcamps are designed to draw out and share the expertise in every educator. During Edcamp sessions, teachers will pick topics – ranging from technology in the classroom, to improving literacy in early education, or boosting science, technology, engineering, and math education – and exchange ideas with colleagues throughout their region. Teachers will select the topics they want to explore the day of the Summit. If there are certain topics that you want to be sure get covered, bring your ideas and be sure to share those topics during the Edcamp session overview!
